Welcome--and thank you for stopping by! When we decided that it was important for me to add a blog to our new website, my mind flooded with all the possibilities-as my staff, family and friends know, I have been a prolific writer my whole life; poetry, journals, short stories, articles, prose, collaborations, little notes and love cards and elaborate hand-written messages...a chapter in a new book, books started and thoughts scribed here and there...it is endless. And now, most of it gone...how much can one remember?...
And ironically, the closer it got to launching our new master website, the blog entries that I began to create became fragmented and random-do I start with a lifetime of raising poultry, any of my lifetime of funny stories...buying my first tractor, getting caught in a great storm on the ocean and being protected by Orcas… my incredible history and life experiences, my passion with flying and the reciprocal metaphors for life, raising your own food as art and style, color in land/design, any of my already published articles from teaching and workshops, raising kids and yo-yo's...oyeeee vey as they say!
Or how about the recent, most immediate twist to my life...
What does one do when the past twenty years of your life has been dedicated to a piece of land that becomes a rich, abundant and fertile integrated living environment of gardening and farming and living and food and art and teaching and experimentation and in one quick-intense-wild firestorm wildfire it is all gone?
You try to sleep, you try to write, you try to think, you try to go on, you cry and grieve, you begin to move forward and remember clearly--Plant one seed at a time...and that in 25 or 30 or 65 or 90 days you have food. Sun, water, protection, prayer, love and attention, gratitude and humility--and a huge dose of patience. |
